The 118-foot Indemann Observation Tower in Inden, Germany is an enormous building made out of steel and has a great Illumination at night time. During my visit a few days ago, I shot my own few pictures, posted this to my Instagram and due the fact that so many people asked me for “What is this” I thought a Blog post on my DETart Blog will help.
“Inden is a municipality in the district of Düren in the state of North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany. It is located on the river Inde, approx. 10 km north-west of Düren. In the area around Inden lignite is extracted in open-pit mines. Several hundreds of inhabitants have been resettled in the 1990s and 2000s because of these activities.”

Background about the 118-foot Indemann
“Designed as a symbol of the structural-political evolution of a former mining district, the 118-foot Indemann Observation Tower in Inden, Germany serves as a visual representation of progressive planning for the future. Indemann features a transparent skin made of GKD Illumesh® stainless steel metal fabric with interwoven LED profiles.Indemann is a popular tourist attraction featuring three observation decks that provide visitors with breathtaking views of the region. At night a spectacular computer controlled light show comes to life as vast light and color compositions. The intensive colors reflecting off the round stainless steel wires create the impression of a three-dimensional hologram. With over 40,000 LEDs, each of which can be separately controlled by computer, the illuminated Indemann symbolizes a bright future.”
